Mosquito Systems is in our name

Our mosquito treatment covers adults and the next generation

Many of the mosquitoes that bite you in the yard breed in small amounts of standing water right on the property: a clogged gutter, a saucer under a potted plant, a forgotten bucket, or the cups of a bromeliad.

  • Backpack fogger treatment. Your technician treats the shady places adult mosquitoes rest: hedges, palms, dense plantings, under decks and around the pool.
  • Larvicide on breeding spots. We treat the standing water we find, like bromeliads, gutters, plant saucers, buckets and tires, so fewer mosquitoes hatch.

Treatment schedule: Monthly treatments recommended, especially during rainy season, with schedules customized to your property. · Pricing: quoted after your FREE inspection.

Pro-Spray technician spraying a yard for mosquitoes

Why mosquito control matters in South Florida

Mosquitoes can carry diseases such as West Nile virus, Zika, dengue, malaria, yellow fever and chikungunya. Dumping standing water between visits helps your treatment work better.

In South Florida, mosquitoes don't take the winter off. Rain, heat and standing water keep them breeding for most of the year, and the species that bite in our yards are often hatching just a few steps from the back door. Pro-Spray is a family-run, Licensed & Insured pest control company. We help homeowners, horse and livestock owners, and communities across Broward, Miami-Dade and southern Palm Beach counties get their outdoor space back.

What Our Mosquito Service Includes

A walk-through of your property. Every new customer starts with a free inspection. We look at where mosquitoes are resting and where water is collecting, and we explain what we find.

Backpack fogger treatment of resting areas. Adult mosquitoes spend the hot part of the day sheltering in shade. Your technician treats those spots around your home, including hedges, palms, dense plantings, the undersides of decks, the edges of lanais and pool cages, fence lines and side yards.

Breeding-site guidance. We point out containers, bromeliads, gutters and other spots that hold water, so you know what to dump or fix between visits. See our South Florida standing-water checklist.

A schedule that fits your yard. We recommend monthly service, especially during the rainy season, and we can customize the schedule to your property and how you use it.

Larval Traps: Working Where We Can't See

Some of the water mosquitoes breed in is hidden: a tree hole, the bottom of a bromeliad, a cupped leaf, a forgotten container behind the shed. To help reach those spots, Pro-Spray adds mosquito larval traps to our backpack fogger treatment.

How they work. A larval trap is a small, dark, water-filled station designed to look like a good place to lay eggs. It attracts egg-laying females of the container-breeding mosquitoes that bite most around South Florida homes, the yellow fever mosquito and the Asian tiger mosquito. When a female visits, she picks up tiny particles of a growth regulator that stops larvae from becoming biting adults. Think of it as birth control for mosquitoes. Larvae in the station don't make it to adulthood. These mosquitoes also tend to spread their eggs across several water sources, so the female can carry some of that growth regulator to other nearby containers, including ones nobody knew were there.

Where we place them. We set traps in shade near vegetation and the spots where mosquitoes rest, such as along hedges, behind the house or near dense plantings. They go out of reach of kids and pets, never in ponds or pools, and away from animal feed and drinking water. We follow the product label for placement and use.

Serviced with your visits. Larval traps are included with every monthly mosquito plan (not with quarterly pest plans or one-time event sprays). We refill and service them about every 4 weeks during your monthly visits, following the product label.

Barns and livestock properties. We use larval traps at barn and livestock properties too. They're placed away from feed rooms, water troughs, feed and animals, following the label.

Part of a plan, not a cure-all. Traps are one tool that works alongside the backpack fogger treatment of resting areas and the standing water you dump between visits. How well they work depends on things like how many other breeding spots are nearby, so we don't rely on traps alone.

Why South Florida Yards Need Ongoing Mosquito Control

The most common biters around homes here are container breeders. The yellow fever mosquito and the Asian tiger mosquito lay eggs on the walls of anything that holds a little water, and those eggs can wait out dry spells until the next rain. The southern house mosquito breeds in drains and dirtier water and bites at night. With new generations always on the way, a single treatment rarely keeps a yard comfortable for long. That's why we recommend regular service.

Mosquitoes can spread viruses such as dengue and Zika. Follow your local health department's guidance on bite prevention, and use an EPA-registered repellent when you're outdoors.

One-Time Special Event Sprays

Hosting a birthday party, backyard wedding, graduation or cookout? Pro-Spray offers one-time special-event mosquito treatments for your yard. We treat the shady resting areas around where your guests will gather, so you can focus on the party. Call or text to book. Let us know your event date when you reach out, and we'll work out scheduling with you.

Homes, Barns and Communities

  • Single-family homes and townhomes: backyards, pool areas, lanais and side yards
  • Horse and livestock properties: barn exteriors, paddock edges, wash racks and shady areas around animal housing, avoiding feed rooms and never spraying animals directly (see mosquito control for pets and families)
  • HOAs and communities: common areas, clubhouses, pool decks and playgrounds (see our HOA mosquito program)

Why Choose Pro-Spray

  • No contracts, no cancellation fees. Stay because the service works, not because you signed something.
  • Bug Free Guarantee: If pests come back between visits, so do we, at no extra cost.
  • Family-run and local. We know South Florida yards: canals, bromeliads, ficus hedges, pool cages and summer storms.
  • Licensed & Insured. FL License JB 258079.

Not Every Biter Is a Mosquito

If you're getting bitten near the water at dawn and dusk but can't see what's biting, it may be no-see-ums. If clouds of bugs on your pool cage don't bite at all, they're probably non-biting midges.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do the larval traps get rid of mosquitoes by themselves?
No. They help reduce the next generation, especially of container-breeding mosquitoes, but they work best together with our backpack fogger treatment and regular removal of standing water.
