Pest control in a golf village
The Village of Golf is a small incorporated village between Congress Avenue and Military Trail, built in the 1950s around the Country Club of Florida and its course. Mail here is addressed to Golf, FL. Homes sit on large lots along the fairways and lakes, with mature trees and established plantings.
That setting shapes the pest calls. Roof rats travel along old oaks, palm fronds and fence tops to the roofline and get in through soffit gaps, roof vents and AC line openings, so we pair traps with exclusion work to close those openings. Ants nest in mulch and under pavers and trail into kitchens and baths. After a heavy rain, palmetto bugs move out of the mulch beds and cover right next to the house and in through worn door sweeps. Spiders gather at lanai corners where lights draw insects.
Many homes here date from the village's early decades, and older wood trim, fascia and pergolas draw carpenter bees, mostly from late winter into spring, when they bore round holes and leave sawdust below. Paper wasps build under eaves and in shutters, and yellowjackets usually nest in the ground or in wall voids. We treat the galleries and nests around the house; we don't remove honey bee hives, so for those a local beekeeper is the right call.
If your community has a gate, tell us the entry steps when you book.
Getting ready for the first visit
A few minutes of prep makes the FREE inspection more useful. Jot down where and when you've seen activity: droppings in the garage, ants on a counter, noises in the attic at night. Clear the cabinet under the kitchen sink so the technician can see the plumbing. Leave the attic access and the garage reachable, and keep pets in another room while we work. If you're away for the season, say so when you book so we can arrange access.
Mosquitoes near the golf course and lakes
Yards that face a fairway or a lake see mosquitoes at dawn and dusk. We go after the adults where they rest, using a professional mosquito barrier spray treatment from a backpack fogger: the shade along lanais and pool enclosures, under eaves of covered patios, behind the AC unit and in thick plantings. It's never directed toward pool water, and we skip flowering plants. On your lot, containers, gutters and drains that can't be emptied get larvicide. We never treat the lakes, ponds or the golf course. On monthly mosquito plans only, we add larval traps with a growth regulator, like birth control for insects. Monthly service is what we recommend, especially in rainy season.
Seasonal homes
Many owners spend part of the year away. A closed house lets drain traps dry out, which invites roaches up from the pipes, and gives rats an attic with no one around to hear them. Quarterly service keeps visits on schedule while you're gone, and we can get in by lockbox or through your property manager, sometimes with your cleaning service. Before you leave, run the drains, clear the pantry and send us your dates.
How we treat
Inspection
Visit one is the FREE inspection: house, garage, attic access and grounds, with findings walked through in English or Spanish. Our approach is integrated pest management (IPM). Licensed technicians apply only EPA-registered products, each one used as its label directs.
Indoor roaches
We use roach gel bait and crack-and-crevice treatment where German roaches hide, under sinks, behind appliances and in cabinet hinges. Please hold off on store-bought sprays, since they can push roaches away from the bait and slow things down.
Outside the house
A treated band goes around the foundation and lower wall, plus spot work at the ways in: gaps under doors, window frames, weep holes and where plumbing enters.
Rodents
We inspect for entry points, set traps and tamper-resistant bait stations, and seal the gaps rodents are using with exclusion work, to help keep them from getting back in. Living areas get snap traps only, never loose bait, and tamper-resistant bait stations go outside or in service areas such as the garage.
Between visits
"If pests come back between visits, so do we, at no extra cost." If you're on a plan, call or text and we'll come back for a free re-service. Until treated areas dry, keep kids and pets off them, and follow what your technician tells you.
Village of Golf FAQs
What pests are most common in the Village of Golf?
Roof rats moving in from mature trees, ants nesting in mulch and under pavers, and palmetto bugs that come indoors after heavy rain. Homes along the fairways and lakes also see mosquitoes at dawn and dusk, and older wood trim can draw carpenter bees.
How much should pest control cost per month in Florida?
We can only speak for our own pricing. After a FREE inspection with $50 off the first service, ongoing general pest protection is $125 per quarter, which covers three months of service. Monthly and custom schedules are available and quoted after the inspection.
Do you treat the golf course or lakes for mosquitoes?
No. We treat around your home: the shady spots where mosquitoes rest, plus larvicide on breeding spots on your property. The course, the lakes and the ponds aren't something we treat.
Can you keep my home protected while I'm away for the season?
Yes. Quarterly service keeps protection on schedule while you're gone. Set up access when you book: a lockbox, your property manager, or sometimes your cleaning service.
