Pest Control in Miramar, FL, from Historic East Miramar to the Western Lakes
Family-run, licensed and insured pest control in South Florida.
$50 OFF your first service + FREE inspectionNew customers · No code needed · No expirationMiramar runs a long way across southwest Broward. On the east side, near US-441, the older neighborhoods have mid-century concrete block homes, big trees and established family streets. Head west along Miramar Parkway and the city turns into newer gated communities built around man-made lakes, like Silver Shores and Monarch Lakes, with Miramar Regional Park, the town center and the western edge near the Everglades beyond them.
Pests change along the way, and so does the way we treat them. Pro-Spray is a family-run, licensed and insured company from Hollywood, close enough to know Miramar's streets well. A lot of Miramar families speak Spanish at home, and so do we. Hablamos español. Call or text 833-845-9284 for a FREE inspection, and new customers get $50 off the first service.
East Miramar: older homes, bigger trees, more ways in
The neighborhoods in eastern Miramar, near US-441 and the Hollywood and West Park borders, were built in the decades after the city was founded in the 1950s. Many homes have been expanded, re-roofed and remodeled over the years. Those seams between old and new construction, plus settled slabs, older windows and worn door thresholds, give pests plenty of entry points.
Palmetto bugs are a steady complaint here. They live outside in storm drains, sewers, mulch and leaf litter under the big trees, then come inside after heavy rain. Roof rats use the mature mango, avocado and oak trees to reach the roof and get into the attic through gable vents, soffit gaps and AC line openings. We inspect the roofline and the yard, trap the rats inside, seal the gaps and recommend which branches to trim.
West Miramar: lakes, HOAs and newer construction
In western Miramar, communities like Silver Shores and Monarch Lakes are built around lakes, with stucco homes, tile roofs, screened pool cages and HOA-maintained landscaping. Newer homes have fewer gaps, but they come with their own pest problems. Lakes and retention areas bring mosquitoes. Irrigated mulch beds and valve boxes keep palmetto bugs close to the walls. Fresh sod and new pavers bring fire ants and big-headed ants that trail inside along the slab.
Pool cages are spider magnets in western Miramar. The lights draw insects at night, and spiders set up in the corners of the screen to catch them. On a general pest visit, we treat the cage framing, the eaves and the corners, and we knock down webs we can reach.
Townhomes and shared walls
Miramar has a lot of townhome communities, both east and west. Shared walls and attics mean that ants and German cockroaches travel easily from unit to unit. We treat your unit and the perimeter you control, seal plumbing gaps under sinks and behind appliances, and tell you honestly if the pressure seems to be coming from next door. If several owners in your row have the same problem, we can work with the association.
Mosquito control in Miramar
Between the lakes, the canals and the open land on the western edge, mosquitoes are Miramar's biggest outdoor complaint, especially from late spring through fall. People often blame the lake, but many of the mosquitoes biting on the patio come from small containers right in the yard: gutters, bromeliads, plant saucers, toys, buckets, tarps and the drip pans under AC units. The Asian tiger mosquito breeds in those spots and bites during the day.
Our monthly mosquito service uses a backpack fogger on the shady places adult mosquitoes rest, like hedges along the fence, under the lanai, behind the AC unit and in the plants along the lake bank on your lot, and larvicide on breeding spots. The schedule is customizable. We also do one-time event sprays before birthday parties, quinceañeras, graduations and backyard gatherings. More details are on our Miramar mosquito control page.
HOA mosquito service for Miramar communities
Many Miramar communities have clubhouses, pools, playgrounds, walking paths and lakefront common areas. We offer monthly mosquito service for associations, with a backpack fogger on the shady resting areas and larvicide on breeding spots in drains, planters and low areas. We can provide a certificate of insurance when the board or management company asks for one. See our HOA mosquito control page.
Rats and mice around Miramar homes
Rodent calls in Miramar usually start with noise in the ceiling or droppings in the garage. Roof rats climb trees, palms and fences, and they're the most common rodent in attics here. House mice get into garages and kitchens through gaps under doors and around pipes. We find how they're getting in, trap the ones inside, seal the openings and, where it makes sense, set tamper-resistant bait stations outside where kids and pets can't reach them. Read more on our Miramar rodent control page.
Ants inside and fire ants outside
Ghost ants and big-headed ants trail along kitchen counters, bathroom sinks and baseboards. They nest outside under pavers and mulch and along the slab. We use baits the workers carry back to the colony and treat the nesting areas outside. In the yard, we treat fire ant mounds and offer yard treatments for fleas and ants around the home. We don't do lawn or plant care. See Miramar ant control.
German cockroaches in kitchens
German cockroaches are small, tan, indoor roaches that breed fast in kitchens and bathrooms. They come in with grocery bags, boxes, used appliances and furniture. We place baits and growth regulators where they hide, behind the refrigerator, under the sink, inside cabinet hinges, and follow up until they're gone. Details are on our Miramar roach control page.
Miramar Regional Park, dogs and fleas
Miramar Regional Park has a dog park, walking paths and lots of green space, and the city's lake trails get plenty of dog walkers too. Dogs bring fleas and ticks home from the park, from wildlife along the canals and from the edges of open land. Fleas need a two-part fix: a vet-approved product on the pet and treatment of the home and the yard areas around the house. We handle the home and yard and tell you how long to keep pets off treated areas. See our cat flea guide.
Businesses along Miramar Parkway and Pembroke Road
Miramar has a big business side, with office parks, distribution centers, restaurants, medical offices, schools and shopping plazas along Miramar Parkway, Pembroke Road and the I-75 corridor. Kitchens and break rooms draw German cockroaches, loading docks and dumpsters draw rats, and landscaped office grounds bring ants and mosquitoes. We schedule commercial service around your hours and focus on the areas where problems start. See commercial pest control.
After storms and heavy rain
Heavy summer storms can fill Miramar's swales and low spots for days. That standing water brings a burst of mosquitoes about a week later, pushes fire ants up into floating clumps and sends rats and palmetto bugs toward higher, drier places, often your garage or home. Our guides on floating fire ants after flooding and post-flood pest control explain what to watch for.
Hablamos español: why it matters in Miramar
Miramar is one of Broward's most diverse cities, and a lot of families here are more comfortable explaining a problem in Spanish. When you're describing where you saw a rat, what the droppings looked like or which room the roaches show up in, details matter, and it's easier to get them right in the language you think in. Our team speaks Spanish, so you can do the whole visit, from the inspection to the explanation of the plan, in Spanish. We also have this page in Spanish.
Mid-century homes in historic Miramar
The oldest parts of Miramar, on the east side near US-441, have block homes from the 1950s and '60s. Many have jalousie windows in back rooms, original terrazzo floors, converted garages and carports turned into rooms. Jalousie windows rarely seal completely, so ants and small roaches come straight through. Carport conversions often leave a gap where the new wall meets the old slab. Terrazzo cracks along old seams. During the inspection, we look at all of those, treat them and tell you which ones are worth sealing.
Lakefront homes and pool cages in western Miramar
In the lake communities, pool cages and lakefront patios are where families spend their evenings, and they're also where spiders, mosquitoes and ants gather. Screen enclosures have gutters that hold water, lights that draw insects and corners where webs build up. We treat the cage framing, the gutter and drain areas, the eaves and the landscaping along the cage. Clearing leaves out of cage gutters after storms keeps them from holding water and breeding mosquitoes.
Pests we see most in Miramar
- Mosquitoes: the top outdoor complaint, especially near lakes and the western edge.
- Palmetto bugs: in garages and older homes, especially after heavy rain.
- German cockroaches: in kitchens, apartments and townhomes.
- Roof rats: in attics, mostly in the east, but anywhere with mature trees.
- Ants: ghost ants and big-headed ants indoors, fire ants outdoors.
- Spiders: on pool cages and eaves.
- Fleas, ticks and bed bugs: which we treat as part of a plan or on their own.
Simple habits that help
Keep mulch pulled back a few inches from the foundation, and trim shrubs so they don't touch the walls. Dump standing water after every rain, including toys, saucers and tarps. Store pet food and birdseed in sealed bins. Fix dripping faucets and AC leaks, since roaches look for water first. And if you see something new, text us a photo at 833-845-9284 so we can tell you what it is.
Monarch Lakes, Silver Shores and HOA rules
Communities like Monarch Lakes and Silver Shores are gated and run by associations, with rules about vendor access and service hours. When you book, tell us your community and any rules we should know. We'll make sure we arrive within the allowed hours and check in at the gate. If your association is looking for mosquito service for common areas, we can provide a certificate of insurance and coordinate with your management company.
Wasps, mud daubers and stinging insects
Paper wasps build open, umbrella-shaped nests under eaves, in pool-cage corners, on play sets and under patio furniture all over Miramar. They sting when the nest is disturbed, which is a real problem when kids are playing nearby. We remove and treat wasp nests around the home. Mud daubers, which build tube-shaped mud nests, rarely sting and are usually left alone unless they're somewhere that bothers you.
Bed bugs in a city of travelers
Miramar families travel a lot, to visit relatives in the Caribbean and Latin America, for work and on vacations. Bed bugs ride home in luggage and handbags and settle into the mattress seams, box springs and headboards closest to where you sleep. Keep suitcases off the bed and floor when you travel, check hotel mattresses, and wash and dry clothes on high heat when you get home. If you wake up with bites in a row or see tiny dark spots on the sheets, call us before you start moving furniture. We'll inspect, treat and follow up. See our bed bug treatment page.
Restaurants and family-owned shops
Miramar's plazas are full of family-owned restaurants, bakeries, markets and cafés serving food from all over the Caribbean and Latin America. Busy kitchens, warm storage rooms and daily deliveries make German cockroaches and rodents a constant risk. We work with owners to schedule service around opening hours, treat kitchens, drains and storage areas, set up exterior rodent monitoring and explain everything in Spanish or English. One clean report keeps customers coming back, and we want to help you stay there.
Why homeowners stay with a quarterly plan
Most of our Miramar customers start with a single service using the $50 new-customer discount. Many stay on the quarterly plan afterward, not because they have to, but because it's easier than waiting for the next problem. Each visit lines up with a change in season, from the start of the rains to the dry months, and if pests come back in between, so do we. There's no contract, so if you ever want to stop, you just tell us. No penalties, no fine print and no hard feelings.
