North Lauderdale Pest Control for Busy Family Homes
Family-run, licensed and insured pest control in South Florida.
$50 OFF your first service + FREE inspectionNew customers · No code needed · No expirationNorth Lauderdale is a mostly residential city in central Broward, with single-family neighborhoods, townhome communities and apartment complexes, many built in the 1970s and '80s. It's a city of school runs, weekend soccer, backyard barbecues and evening walks around the lake at Hampton Pines Park, and families here want pest control that fits a busy schedule.
Homes close together make it easy for pests to move between properties. German roaches settle into kitchens, ants trail in during wet weather, palmetto bugs come up from drains, and townhomes with shared walls can pass problems from one unit to the next. Pro-Spray is a family-run, Licensed & Insured South Florida business. We treat each home based on what we find, with methods chosen with families and pets in mind. Call or text 833-845-9284 for a FREE inspection and $50 off your first service.
Homes from the '70s and '80s
A house built forty or fifty years ago has had time to settle. Door frames shift, window seals dry out, stucco cracks around hose bibs and dryer vents, and the gaps where plumbing and cable lines enter the house get bigger with every repair. Original kitchen cabinets often have open voids behind them where roaches can live for years without being seen.
None of that means a home is dirty. It just means there are more ways in. During the FREE inspection we check door sweeps, weep screeds, plumbing penetrations under sinks, the dryer vent, the attic hatch and the garage door seal, and we tell you which fixes will help most. Then we treat the places pests are living, not just the places you see them.
Townhomes and shared walls
North Lauderdale has a lot of townhome communities, and shared walls change how pest control works. A German cockroach colony next door can push into your kitchen through the plumbing wall. Ants that nest in the shared landscaping strip trail into every unit in the row. Rodents in one attic can travel along the whole roofline if the firewalls have gaps.
We treat townhomes inside and out, with extra attention on the shared walls, the plumbing behind the kitchen and bathrooms, and the attic if we can reach it. If several neighbors in your building are having the same problem, treating them together gives everyone better results, and we're happy to talk with your HOA. Keep in mind that a roach problem that started next door won't stay solved in your unit unless the source gets treated too, so a quick conversation with your neighbors can save everyone time.
German roaches in busy kitchens
German roaches are the small, tan roaches that scatter when you turn on the kitchen light. They breed fast, they hide in hinges, appliance motors and the gaps behind the backsplash, and they hitch rides into homes in grocery bags, used appliances and cardboard boxes. Store sprays tend to scatter them deeper into the walls.
What works is targeted treatment with gel baits and growth regulators in the places they live, good sanitation and follow-up visits. We'll show you where they're hiding and what to change, like storing pet food in sealed bins and not leaving dishes overnight, so the treatment can do its job.
Palmetto bugs after summer rain
The big brown American cockroach, the palmetto bug, lives outside in mulch, tree holes, storm drains and sewer lines. When summer storms flood those spots, they head for higher, drier ground, which is often your garage or bathroom. They also come up through floor drains and tub drains in homes that have older plumbing. We treat the exterior around the foundation, the entry points and the interior spots where they show up. Keeping drain stoppers in at night and mulch pulled back from the walls helps a lot.
Ants in the yard and the kitchen
Ants might be the most common pest call in North Lauderdale. White-footed ants trail by the thousands along baseboards and countertops. Ghost ants are tiny and pale and show up at sinks and in bathroom cabinets. Fire ants build mounds in front yards, along sidewalks and in the grass where kids play, and their stings hurt. We use baits that ants carry back to the colony, treat fire ant mounds around the home one by one and offer yard treatments for ants around the house.
Kids, playsets and fire ants
Fire ants and kids are a bad combination. Mounds pop up overnight around playsets, trampolines and the edges of the yard, especially after rain. If you see a mound of loose, fluffy soil with no opening on top, keep the kids away and don't kick it, because the ants pour out and sting in numbers. Let us know where the kids play, and we'll make sure those areas are checked and treated around the home.
Mosquito control in North Lauderdale
Retention ponds, canals and backyard clutter after summer storms keep mosquitoes busy. Buckets, toys, tarps, tires, birdbaths and clogged gutters breed the Asian tiger mosquito, which bites during the day, while the southern house mosquito bites at night. Our monthly service uses a backpack fogger on the shaded areas where mosquitoes rest, like hedges, under decks and along fences. We put larvicide in standing water that can't be dumped and show you what to empty. The schedule is customizable, and we do one-time event sprays before a birthday party, a graduation or a family cookout. See mosquito control.
Rodents in attics and garages
Mature trees, fruit trees and power lines give roof rats a route to the roof, and older homes often have gaps at the soffits, gable vents and AC line openings. House mice get into garages under worn door seals and set up in stored boxes. Scratching in the ceiling at night and droppings along the garage wall are the usual signs. We find the entry points, set traps and tamper-resistant bait stations out of reach of kids and pets, seal what we can and come back to check. More on our rodent control page.
Apartments and renters
Many North Lauderdale residents rent. If you're a tenant with roaches, ants or bed bugs, you can call us directly, and we'll treat your unit and explain what we found so you can share it with your landlord. If you're an owner or property manager, we can treat between tenants, when units are empty and easy to reach, and set up regular service for occupied units. See our bed bug treatment page if you suspect bites.
Pets in the house
Most families here have a dog or a cat. Pets bring fleas home from walks and play dates, and pet food left out attracts ants and roaches overnight. Cat fleas are the flea you'll find on both cats and dogs. When fleas show up, we treat inside the home and the shaded yard areas around it, and your pets need a vet-approved flea product at the same time. We always tell you how long to keep pets out of treated areas.
After storms
After a big storm, low parts of town can hold water for days. Fire ants float in clumps that sting on contact, palmetto bugs move up from flooded drains, rodents move into garages and attics, and mosquitoes hatch about a week later. Our guides to floating fire ants after flooding and rainy-season mosquitoes explain what to watch for.
Pests we see most in North Lauderdale
- German cockroaches: in kitchens and bathrooms, especially in townhomes and apartments.
- Palmetto bugs: coming in from drains, mulch and garages after rain.
- Ants: white-footed and ghost ants indoors, fire ants in yards and near playsets.
- Mosquitoes: from retention ponds, canals and backyard containers.
- Roof rats and mice: in attics and garages.
- Fleas: brought home by pets.
Scheduling around your family
We know school pickups, work shifts and practices fill up the week. When you call or text, tell us which days and times work best, and we'll find a slot that fits. If your yard has a locked gate or a dog that needs to be put away, mention it when you book so the visit goes smoothly.
Retention ponds and HOA common areas
Many North Lauderdale neighborhoods and townhome communities are built around retention ponds and shared green space. Those ponds keep the streets from flooding, but their grassy banks and the shrubs around them are prime resting spots for mosquitoes, and the soft soil along the edge is ideal for fire ant mounds. Homes that back up to a pond almost always see more of both. If you live on the water, we focus the backpack fogger on the shaded side of your yard closest to the pond. If your HOA wants to talk about treating common areas, see our HOA mosquito control page.
Wasps and spiders under the eaves
Paper wasps and red paper wasps build open, umbrella-shaped nests under eaves, in shutters, inside mailboxes and along fence rails. They're not aggressive unless the nest is disturbed, which tends to happen when someone opens a shutter or trims a hedge. Spiders build webs in the same places. We treat and remove wasp nests around the home and treat the eaves where spiders hide.
