Parkland Pest Control for Larger Homes and Family Neighborhoods
Family-run, licensed and insured pest control in South Florida.
$50 OFF your first service + FREE inspectionNew customers · No code needed · No expirationParkland is in the northwest corner of Broward County. It's a family-focused city of larger single-family homes, gated communities and estate lots, with lakes and preserve areas and the Everglades edge to the west. Weekends revolve around youth sports, the playgrounds and trails at Pine Trails Park and evenings on the back patio facing the lake.
Big landscaped yards, lakes and nearby open land bring ants, spiders and palmetto bugs close to the foundation. Rodents use preserve edges and dense hedges for cover, and larger homes have more doors, garages and vents to watch. Pro-Spray is a family-run, Licensed & Insured South Florida company. We respect HOA rules, treat carefully around kids and pets and focus on what's actually causing the problem. Call or text 833-845-9284 for a FREE inspection and $50 off your first service.
Bigger homes, more ways in
A 4,000-square-foot home with a three-car garage, a summer kitchen and a large screened pool cage simply has more places for pests to get in than a small house. Every garage door seal, every sliding glass door, every hose bib and dryer vent, every gap where the pool equipment conduit enters the wall is a possible entry point. Second-story balconies and complicated rooflines add soffits and vents that are hard to see from the ground.
That's why our inspections in Parkland take the time they need. We walk the full perimeter, check every garage door, the pool cage and lanai, the summer kitchen and the attic access, and we look up at the roofline for gaps and rub marks. Then we put together a plan for the whole home, not just the room where you saw the last roach.
Living next to the preserves
Many Parkland neighborhoods back up to preserve land, wetlands or wooded buffers. That's part of the appeal, and it also means wildlife and insects live right next door. Homes on a preserve edge often see more ants, spiders, palmetto bugs and mosquitoes, plus the occasional snake or raccoon passing through. Ticks can be found in the brush along preserve edges, including the lone star tick, and they hitch rides home on dogs and kids.
We put extra focus on the side of the home that faces the preserve. We treat the foundation, the shaded edges of the yard near the house and the gaps where pests come in. After walks along a trail or the preserve edge, check kids and dogs for ticks, especially behind the ears, along the hairline and between toes.
Lakes behind the house
A lot of Parkland homes face a lake, and the strip of landscaping between the lake bank and the patio is where pests concentrate. Mosquitoes rest in the shrubs along the water. Fire ants build mounds in the soft soil of the lake bank. Spiders build webs on the pool cage to catch insects drawn by the lights at night. We pay attention to that side of the home during every visit.
Gated communities and HOA rules
Parkland has many gated communities with HOA guidelines about when vendors can work, where trucks can park and what can be applied in common areas. When you schedule, share gate access instructions and any HOA requirements, and we'll follow them. If your association wants to talk about mosquito control in common areas, clubhouses or around the community lakes, see our HOA mosquito control page. We can also provide certificates of insurance when a community asks for them.
Mosquito control in Parkland
Lakes and preserves keep mosquitoes nearby, especially in shaded backyards, play areas and around pool cages. Inside the yard, they breed in bromeliads, planters, toys, tarps and clogged gutters. The Asian tiger mosquito bites all day long, and after big summer storms, floodwater species like the gallinipper, a large and aggressive biter, can hatch in low, wet ground near preserves.
Our monthly service uses a backpack fogger to treat the shaded resting spots where mosquitoes spend the day: hedges, the underside of leaves, under the lanai and along the fence line. We put larvicide in standing water that can't be dumped and point out containers to empty. The schedule is customizable, and we do one-time event sprays before birthday parties, graduation parties and backyard gatherings. See mosquito control.
Fire ants on sports fields and play areas
Fire ants love sunny open areas, which in Parkland means front yards, play areas and the edges of the lake bank. Mounds pop up after rain, often overnight, and kids running barefoot find them first. Fire ants sting in numbers and the stings leave itchy pustules. We treat fire ant mounds around the home one by one and offer yard treatments for ants around the house, with special attention to where your kids play. We don't treat lawns or plants.
Ants indoors
Inside, Parkland homes see the same ants as the rest of Broward. White-footed ants build huge colonies in landscaping and trail in along wires and window frames, often in the kitchen or a second-floor bathroom. Ghost ants find sugary spills in pantries and kids' rooms. We use baits that ants carry back to the colony, because spraying the trail you can see doesn't reach the colony.
Roof rats and preserve edges
Dense hedges, fruit trees, bird feeders and preserve edges give roof rats food and cover. They travel along fences and hedge lines, climb trees and power lines and enter the attic through gaps at the soffits, roof vents or AC line openings. In larger homes, they can be active in one part of a big attic for a while before anyone hears them.
Our rodent service finds the entry points, uses traps and tamper-resistant bait stations placed where kids and pets can't reach them, seals the openings and follows up. Keep hedges trimmed away from the walls, branches cut back from the roof and bird seed cleaned up. More on our rodent control page.
Garages and summer kitchens
Large garages with storage shelves, golf bags, sports gear and second refrigerators are favorite spots for palmetto bugs, spiders and mice. Outdoor summer kitchens with grills, sinks and mini fridges attract ants and roaches to food residue and grease. Clean grills and drip trays after cooking, keep outdoor fridges and trash cans sealed, and store pet food and bird seed in tight bins. We treat the garage perimeter and around outdoor kitchens during regular service.
Spiders on pool cages and lanais
Pool cage lights pull in insects at night, and spiders follow. Most of what you'll see are orb weavers, including the large spiny orb weaver with its crab-like shell, and the harmless house spiders that gather in corners. Brown widows are worth watching for under outdoor furniture, in pool equipment areas and inside kids' outdoor toys. We remove webs within reach and treat the spots where spiders hide.
Palmetto bugs after rain
Big landscaped beds and heavy mulch near the foundation are home to palmetto bugs. After heavy rain, they move indoors through garage doors, weep holes and drains. Pulling mulch back a few inches from the walls, fixing irrigation that soaks the foundation and replacing worn garage door seals all help. We treat the exterior, the gaps and the interior spots where they show up.
Newer construction and fresh landscaping
Parts of Parkland are still being built out, and new construction stirs up pests. Clearing land pushes rodents, ants and palmetto bugs out of their old homes and toward the nearest houses. Fresh sod and mulch arrive with fire ant colonies more often than you'd think. New homes also settle during their first few years, which can open small gaps around doors, windows and plumbing.
If you've just moved into a new home or a lot next to you is being cleared, it's a good time for an inspection. We look at the foundation, weep holes, garage door seals and the gaps around utility lines, treat the perimeter and check the yard around the house for new fire ant mounds. Getting ahead of pests early is easier than chasing an established colony later.
Sports bags, coolers and the car
Between soccer, baseball, lacrosse and swim meets, a lot of gear travels in and out of Parkland homes. Cooler bags with juice spills, snack wrappers in sports bags and cleats left in the garage attract ants and roaches. Empty and wipe out coolers and bags after games, and keep snacks in sealed containers in the pantry instead of the car or garage.
What we look for when you call
If you've seen something specific, tell us when you call or text: where you saw it, what time of day and how many. A photo helps too. Droppings in the attic, a roach in a guest bathroom, ants in a second-floor bathroom or mosquitoes around the lake each point to a different plan. The more we know before the inspection, the faster we can focus on the cause.
Pests we see most in Parkland
Fire ants and white-footed ants, mosquitoes from lakes and preserves, palmetto bugs from mulch and landscaping, roof rats along hedges and preserve edges, spiders on pool cages and lanais, and ticks brought home from preserve trails.
