Pembroke Park is a small town squeezed between Hollywood and Hallandale Beach, and it's one of the closest places we serve. Our office on Hollywood Blvd is only a few miles away. The town is a mix you don't see in many places: manufactured-home communities along Hallandale Beach Blvd, a handful of single-family streets, apartments, and a lot of warehouses, shops and light industrial lots. Each of those brings its own pest problems, and they often feed each other.

Pro-Spray is a family-run, licensed and insured company. We know Pembroke Park's streets because we drive them all the time. Call or text 833-845-9284 to set up a FREE inspection. New customers get $50 off their first service, with no code and no expiration date.

Manufactured homes: what happens under the floor

Many Pembroke Park residents live in manufactured-home communities, several of them along Hallandale Beach Blvd. A manufactured home sits up on piers, with skirting around the base. That space underneath is shaded, damp and mostly undisturbed, which makes it perfect for palmetto bugs, ants, spiders and rodents. It's also where the plumbing, drain lines, AC lines and electrical connections come up into the home, so every pipe is a possible doorway.

When we inspect a manufactured home, we start outside and underneath. We check the skirting for gaps, broken panels and spots where the soil has washed away after heavy rain. We look at the vents, the access panel, the steps and the deck or carport where it meets the house. We check where water and drain lines enter the floor and whether there's a leak keeping the ground wet, because a slow drip under the bathroom is often the reason roaches won't leave.

Then we treat the crawl space and the perimeter, target the entry points, and treat inside where activity shows up, usually the kitchen, bathroom and laundry. We'll also tell you what to fix, like a skirting panel that needs to go back on or a drain line that's leaking, because closing those gaps makes every treatment last longer.

Palmetto bugs and why they love this part of Broward

American cockroaches, the big reddish-brown roaches most of us call palmetto bugs, live outside in sewers, storm drains, mulch and leaf litter. Pembroke Park has plenty of all of those, plus loading docks and dumpsters at the commercial lots. After a heavy afternoon storm, or when the weather turns dry for a while, they go looking for shelter, and the space under a manufactured home or a gap under a front door is right there.

A perimeter treatment around the home, attention to the crawl space and plumbing openings, and good door sweeps cut down the number that make it inside. Indoors, a single palmetto bug every now and then usually means one wandered in. Several a week, or small ones, means they may be breeding nearby, and that's worth a closer look.

German cockroaches in apartments and older homes

The German cockroach is a different problem. It's smaller, lives indoors and breeds fast in kitchens and bathrooms. It usually arrives in boxes, bags, used appliances or furniture, and in apartments it moves between units along plumbing lines. We treat German cockroaches with baits and growth regulators placed where they hide, behind the refrigerator, inside cabinet hinges, under the sink and around the stove, and we come back to follow up. A spray from the hardware store usually makes them scatter deeper into the walls.

Rats from the warehouses and the canal edges

Pembroke Park's industrial and commercial lots are a big part of the town. Warehouses store food, packaging, pallets and inventory, and there are dumpsters, grease bins and loading docks on almost every block. Rats feed and nest around those spots, then travel at night along fences, drainage ditches and utility lines into the homes nearby.

For homes, we inspect the skirting, the roofline, the AC line openings and any shed or carport, then trap and seal. Roof rats climb well and like trees and roofs, while Norway rats burrow along foundations, under slabs and in loose soil near canals. Knowing which one you have changes where we put traps and how we seal. For businesses, we can set up exterior bait stations that kids and pets can't open, and a monitoring schedule for docks and dumpster areas. See our Pembroke Park rodent control page.

Pest control for Pembroke Park warehouses and businesses

Warehouses, auto shops, distribution businesses, restaurants and small offices all have different needs, but most problems start in the same places: overhead doors that are left open, gaps under roll-up doors, stacked pallets and cardboard, break rooms, and the area around the dumpster. We treat the entry points and harborage areas, set up rodent monitoring where needed, and schedule around your hours. We'll also point out practical fixes, like a door brush on a roll-up door or moving pallets off the wall so we can inspect behind them. If you handle food or ship to customers who care about pests, ask us about a regular service schedule. Learn more about commercial pest control.

Ants indoors and fire ants in the yard

Ghost ants, big-headed ants and white-footed ants are the usual kitchen and bathroom invaders. They nest outside under pavers, in mulch, along the slab or in the skirting area, and they come in along pipes and baseboards. We use baits the workers carry back to the colony and treat the nesting areas outside.

In sunny yards and along sidewalks, fire ants build mounds that pop up overnight after a rain. They sting hard and they're a real concern for kids, older residents and pets. We treat fire ant mounds and offer yard treatments for fleas and ants around the home. We don't do lawn or plant care. Read more on our Pembroke Park ant control page.

Mosquitoes in a town full of small containers

Pembroke Park doesn't have big lakes in every backyard, but it doesn't need them. Mosquitoes here breed in small things: buckets, tarps over cars or boats, old tires, planters, wheelbarrows, clogged gutters on carports and puddles that sit under homes after a storm. The Asian tiger mosquito can complete its life cycle in a bottle cap of water.

We offer monthly mosquito service with a customizable schedule. Your technician uses a backpack fogger to treat shady resting areas, like fence lines, under carports, along the skirting and in dense plants, and treats breeding spots with larvicide. We'll also walk you through the containers to dump between visits. If you're having a family party or an outdoor gathering, ask about a one-time event spray. You can read more on our main mosquito control page.

Palmetto bug or German cockroach? A quick way to tell

It helps to know which roach you're looking at, because the treatment is completely different.

  • Size: a palmetto bug is about an inch and a half or longer. A German cockroach is about half an inch.
  • Color: palmetto bugs are reddish-brown with a pale band behind the head. German cockroaches are tan with two dark stripes.
  • Where you see them: palmetto bugs show up near doors, in the garage, in bathrooms and near drains, often one at a time. German cockroaches cluster in the kitchen and bathroom, inside cabinets and appliances.
  • When: palmetto bugs spike after heavy rain. German cockroaches stay steady year-round, and they get worse quickly.

If you can, snap a photo or keep one in a sealed bag. It helps us plan before we even arrive.

Fleas from stray cats and wildlife

Stray cats, raccoons and opossums move through Pembroke Park at night, and many of them rest under homes, sheds and carports. They leave fleas behind. If your dog or cat starts scratching, or you get bites around your ankles on the steps, the flea source may be the shaded area under or around your home. Fleas need a two-part fix: a vet-approved product on your pet, and treatment of the home and the yard areas around it where the larvae develop. We handle the home and yard, and we'll show you where animals are getting in so you can close those spots. See the cat flea guide.

Spiders under carports, steps and skirting

Carports, porch steps, utility sheds and the space behind skirting panels are spider country. Most of what you'll see are house spiders and orb weavers, which are harmless and mostly a nuisance. Brown widows, with their spiky round egg sacs, are also common in Broward around steps, mailboxes, under railings and in stored items. They're shy, but it's worth knowing where they are, especially if you have kids. On a general pest visit, we remove webs and egg sacs we can reach and treat the hiding spots around the home.

Bed bugs in apartments and shared housing

Bed bugs spread easily wherever people share walls, furniture or laundry areas, and they can come in with a used mattress, a visitor's suitcase or a secondhand couch. They hide in mattress seams, box springs, bed frames and the furniture closest to the bed. If you're waking up with bites in a line, look for tiny dark spots on the sheets and along the seams. Don't throw out furniture or move to the couch until you've had an inspection, because that often spreads them to other rooms. We inspect, treat and follow up, and we can talk with landlords about checking nearby units. Learn more about our bed bug treatment.

Older residents and accessible service

Many of Pembroke Park's manufactured-home communities are home to older residents, some living alone. We keep that in mind. We take our time, explain what we're doing and why, avoid moving heavy furniture without asking, and make sure you know when it's safe to go back into treated areas. If a family member helps manage the home, we're glad to talk with them too, in English or Spanish.

Small lots, close neighbors

Homes in Pembroke Park's communities sit close together, often just a few feet apart. That means pests move easily between neighbors. A rat nesting under one home can feed at the next one's trash cans, and roaches from a vacant unit can wander next door. When we treat, we focus hard on your home's own entry points, so what happens next door stays next door. If several neighbors in your community are dealing with the same problem, the community office may want to talk with us about a broader approach.

Pests we see most in Pembroke Park

  • Palmetto bugs: under manufactured homes, in drains and around commercial lots.
  • German cockroaches: in kitchens and bathrooms, especially in apartments.
  • Rats: around warehouses, dumpsters, canals and under homes.
  • Ants: ghost ants and big-headed ants indoors, fire ants in sunny yards.
  • Mosquitoes: from containers, tarps and puddles under homes.
  • Spiders and brown widows: under carports, steps and skirting.
  • Fleas: from stray cats and wildlife resting under homes.

After a storm in Pembroke Park

Low spots in Pembroke Park can hold water after a heavy rain or a tropical storm. That standing water does three things: it brings a burst of mosquitoes about a week later, it pushes fire ants up out of their mounds, and it sends palmetto bugs and rats looking for drier places, often under or inside homes. If storm water got under your home, check the skirting and the insulation underneath once it dries, and give us a call if you see more activity than usual. Our guides on floating fire ants after flooding and rodents after a hurricane explain what to watch for.

Simple steps that help between visits

  • Keep the skirting closed and repair broken panels quickly.
  • Fix leaks under sinks and around the water heater; roaches go where the water is.
  • Store pet food and birdseed in sealed bins, not open bags.
  • Keep firewood, lumber and stored items off the ground and away from the walls.
  • Dump standing water after every rain.

Pembroke Park Pest Control FAQs

Do you treat manufactured homes in Pembroke Park?
Yes. We treat underneath the home, along the skirting and around plumbing and AC openings, plus inside where needed. Many pest problems in manufactured homes start in the crawl space.
Why do I see so many palmetto bugs after it rains?
Heavy rain floods their outdoor hiding spots in drains, sewers and mulch, so they look for drier shelter, often under or inside homes. A perimeter treatment, sealed skirting and good door sweeps help the most.
Can you service my warehouse or shop?
Yes. We treat warehouses, shops and offices with a focus on doors, docks, dumpster areas and break rooms, and we can set up rodent monitoring around the outside.
I hear rats under my home at night. What do you do?
We inspect the skirting, crawl space and entry points, trap the rats that are there, and seal the openings. Outside, we can use tamper-resistant bait stations where needed.

Very close. Our office is on Hollywood Blvd, just a few miles away, so Pembroke Park is one of the nearest areas we serve.
