Where we serve in Ocean Ridge

Ocean Ridge sits on the barrier island between Briny Breezes and Manalapan, reached from Boynton Beach by the Woolbright Road and Ocean Avenue bridges. We serve the whole town, from the oceanfront homes along A1A to the houses and condos on the Intracoastal side, and we set your visits on a regular schedule planned ahead.

Island living and pests

Life between the ocean and the Intracoastal is good for people and for pests. Salt air and steady moisture rust door sweeps and screen frames faster than inland, which opens small gaps around doors and windows. Dense coastal plantings, mulch beds and cover right next to the house give palmetto bugs a cool place to hide during the day. When a summer storm soaks the island, they come inside looking for dry ground.

Ghost ants are the other everyday complaint. They're tiny, pale and fast, and they trail along kitchen counters, window frames and bathroom sinks, usually nesting outside in mulch or under pavers and walking in. Treating the trail you can see doesn't solve it; we go after the colony routes inside and out.

Near the water, rats find shelter around docks, boat storage, garages and trash areas, then move up palms to the roofline. That's where exclusion work comes in. We find the openings around soffits, vents and utility lines and seal them, because traps alone don't keep the next rat out.

No-see-ums and mosquitoes near the Intracoastal

On still evenings, the Intracoastal side of the island gets no-see-ums: biting midges small enough to pass through ordinary window screen. Mosquitoes join them after rain. For those, we bring a professional mosquito barrier spray treatment. The technician carries a backpack fogger to the shade along lanais and pool enclosures, the land side of docks and seawalls, and the dense planting beside the AC pad, keeping it pointed away from pool water and off flowering plants. Any container, gutter or drain on the lot that holds water and can't be dumped gets larvicide. The Intracoastal, the inlet and ponds are never treated. If you choose a monthly mosquito plan, larval traps with a growth regulator, like birth control for insects, are part of it.

At home, finer no-see-um screen on porches and lanais, a ceiling or box fan where you sit outside, and fewer bright lights at dusk all cut down on bites. See our no-see-um guide.

Seasonal homes and condos

Plenty of Ocean Ridge homes and condos close up for part of the year. While they're empty, drain traps dry out and let roaches up from the pipes, and ants and rodents have months to settle in. A quarterly plan keeps visits going while you're away; tell us whether to use your lockbox, call your property manager, or, now and then, meet your cleaning service. In condo buildings, we can treat your unit alone or work with the association building-wide.

How we treat

What happens first? A FREE inspection, inside and out, explained in English or Spanish.

How do you handle roaches indoors? In cabinets, behind appliances and around plumbing gaps: roach gel bait plus crack-and-crevice treatment. Bait works best when you skip store-bought sprays, because they can repel roaches away from the bait.

What about the outside? We treat a band around your foundation and the lower foundation wall, and spot-treat entry points like door gaps, window frames, weep holes and plumbing openings.

And rodents? We inspect for entry points, set traps and tamper-resistant bait stations, and seal the gaps rodents are using with exclusion work, to help keep them from getting back in. In the living space, only snap traps, never loose bait; the tamper-resistant bait stations belong outdoors or in service spaces like garages and trash rooms.

What if pests come back? "If pests come back between visits, so do we, at no extra cost." Plan customers text or call and we return for a free re-service. Keep kids and pets off treated areas until dry, and follow your technician's instructions.

What does it cost to stay on a plan? Quarterly general pest service is $125 (about $42/month). Monthly or custom schedules are quoted after the inspection, and we recommend mosquito service monthly. No long-term contracts, no cancellation fees; you sign a short service agreement and that's it. Every product we use is EPA-registered and applied by licensed technicians according to its label.

Ocean Ridge FAQs

What is the most common household pest in Florida?

Cockroaches, especially palmetto bugs that wander in from outside after rain, followed closely by ants. An occasional palmetto bug is normal on the island. Small brown German roaches indoors are different: they breed inside, so seeing them means an infestation that needs treatment.

What does pest control cost in Ocean Ridge?

It starts with a FREE inspection. New customers take $50 off the first service, with no code and no expiration date. Ongoing protection on our quarterly plan is $125 per quarter, with free re-service for plan customers if pests return between visits.

How do you deal with no-see-ums at dusk?

We treat the shaded spots around your home where biting insects rest. No-see-ums breed in wet sand and marsh along the water, which we don't treat, so you can help with finer screen on the lanai, a fan where you sit and fewer bright lights at dusk. The goal is fewer bites around the house.

Do you serve all of Ocean Ridge?

Yes. We serve all of Ocean Ridge, oceanfront and Intracoastal side alike, single-family homes and condos. Seasonal owners can keep quarterly service going while they're away.
