Dania Beach is Broward's oldest city, and it has some of the most varied housing in the county. There are 1920s to '40s bungalows near Antique Row, canal homes in Lauderdale Isles, marina communities, newer townhomes, apartments, and family homes on bigger lots in West Dania. There's also a lot of water: the ocean at the Dania Beach Pier, the Intracoastal, the Dania Cut-Off Canal, the mangroves and West Lake, and Whiskey Creek winding through Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park.

We cover all of Dania Beach, every neighborhood in the city. Pro-Spray is a family-run, licensed and insured company based next door in Hollywood. Call or text 833-845-9284 to book a FREE inspection, and as a new customer you'll get $50 off your first service.

Old Dania and Antique Row: bungalows with character

The older neighborhoods around downtown, Federal Highway and Antique Row have some of Broward's oldest homes. Many have raised wood floors, original windows, wood trim and porches, plus decades of repairs, additions and settling. That character comes with gaps. Floorboards separate, screens tear, door frames shift and old plumbing openings never got sealed.

Palmetto bugs find those gaps fast. They live outside in mulch, leaf litter, storm drains and sewers, and they come inside when heavy rain floods them out. In a raised-floor bungalow, they often live in the crawl space and come up through gaps around pipes. We inspect the crawl space where it's accessible, treat the perimeter and entry points, and point out the gaps worth sealing. Inside, we focus on the kitchen, bathrooms and laundry areas.

Roof rats like the mature trees, overgrown vines and fruit trees common on older lots. Vines growing up a wall are a ladder straight to the roof. We inspect the roofline, attic vents and soffits, trap the rats that are inside, seal the openings, and tell you which vines and branches to cut back.

Lauderdale Isles, the Cut-Off Canal and marina homes

Homes along the Dania Cut-Off Canal, in Lauderdale Isles and near the marinas live with seawalls, docks, boat lifts and dense shoreline plants. Rats travel along seawalls and docks at night. Spiders build heavy webs on docks, boat covers and around the lights. Ants trail along the pool deck and in the cracks of the pavers. Mosquitoes rest in the shady plants along the water.

For canal-front homes, we treat the house perimeter, the pool cage and lanai, and the shady areas near the dock where pests hide. We inspect the roofline and the boat storage areas for rodents and can place tamper-resistant bait stations along the seawall side. Boats, kayaks and their covers collect rainwater, so we check those for mosquito breeding too.

Mangroves, West Lake and mosquito pressure

The mangroves and wetland edges around West Lake and Whiskey Creek in Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park keep mosquito and no-see-um pressure up in the rainy months, especially in the neighborhoods closest to the water. We can't treat the park or the mangroves, but most of the mosquitoes biting you in your yard bred much closer: gutters, bromeliads, kayaks and boat covers, buckets, tires and plant saucers. No-see-ums, the tiny biting midges, breed in wet soil along the shoreline and can come through ordinary screens on calm evenings.

Our monthly mosquito service uses a backpack fogger on the shady places adult mosquitoes rest, like hedges, under decks, along fences and around the pool cage, and larvicide on breeding spots in your yard. The schedule is customizable, so we can treat more often in the wet months. We also do one-time event sprays before a party, a backyard wedding or a family get-together. More on our Dania Beach mosquito control page.

Near the pier and the beach

Close to the Dania Beach Pier and Ocean Park, homes and condos deal with salt air, sand, coastal landscaping and restaurant traffic. Ghost ants trail along window frames, spiders build under balconies and around outdoor lights, and German cockroaches move between condo units through shared plumbing. In condos, we treat your unit, seal the gaps around plumbing and work with associations on common areas.

Townhomes and newer communities

Dania Beach has a good number of townhome communities, like Dania Cove, and newer apartment and mixed-use development around Dania Pointe. Shared walls and shared landscaping mean that when one unit has roaches or ants, the neighbors often do too. New construction also has its own pests: disturbed soil and fresh mulch bring ants, and fresh landscaping holds water for mosquitoes.

In a townhome, we treat your unit and the perimeter you control, and we seal gaps around plumbing and utility lines. If several neighbors are having problems, we can talk with your association about a broader plan.

West Dania: bigger lots, pets and yards

West Dania has more single-family homes on larger lots, with fenced yards, dogs, sheds, fruit trees and gardens. Dog walks along the water and wildlife moving through bring plenty of calls about fleas and ticks. Fire ants build mounds in sunny yards, along driveways and around play sets.

We treat fire ant mounds and offer yard treatments for fleas and ants around the home. We don't do lawn or plant care. For fleas, your pet also needs a vet-approved product at the same time, because treating only the house or only the dog lets the cycle start over.

German cockroaches in apartments and rentals

Dania Beach has plenty of apartments, duplexes and rentals. German cockroaches are the most common indoor problem in those buildings. They're small, tan and fast, and they breed in kitchens and bathrooms. They move between units through plumbing chases and come in with boxes, groceries and used appliances. We treat them with baits and growth regulators where they hide and follow up until they're gone. Landlords can also ask about turnover service between tenants. See our Dania Beach roach control page.

Restaurants, marinas and businesses

From the restaurants near the pier to the shops on Federal Highway and the marine businesses along the waterways, Dania Beach has a busy commercial side. Commercial kitchens draw German cockroaches, dumpster pads and docks draw rats, and boat yards and storage areas give spiders and ants plenty of cover. We schedule commercial service around your hours and focus on kitchens, drains, storage, docks and waste areas. Learn more about commercial pest control.

After storms and flooding

Low-lying parts of Dania Beach near the canals and the Intracoastal can flood in heavy rain or storm surge. Flooding drives rats and palmetto bugs out of drains, seawalls and crawl spaces and toward homes and garages. Fire ants float up in clumps that can sting. A week or so later, mosquitoes hatch from every bucket, tarp and low spot that held water. Our guides on floating fire ants after flooding, rodents after a hurricane and post-flood pest control explain what to watch for.

Every neighborhood, every kind of home

We cover all of Dania Beach, every neighborhood, and the city's variety is part of why we like working here. In a single week, we might treat a raised-floor bungalow near Antique Row, a townhome in Dania Cove, a canal home in Lauderdale Isles, a condo near the pier and a family home with a big yard in West Dania. Each one needs a different plan, and we never treat them all the same way.

Raised floors and crawl spaces

Some of Dania Beach's oldest homes sit on raised wood floors over a crawl space. That space under the house is shaded, damp and full of plumbing and wiring, which makes it a favorite hiding spot for palmetto bugs, ants, spiders and rodents. Gaps around pipes, floor vents and worn floorboards let them come straight up into the kitchen and bathroom.

Where the crawl space is accessible, we inspect it for moisture, droppings and nests. We treat the crawl space and the perimeter, look for gaps in the vents and skirting, and tell you about plumbing leaks that keep the ground wet. Fixing moisture under the house often does more for a palmetto bug problem than anything else.

Boats, kayaks and dock storage

Plenty of Dania Beach homeowners keep a boat, a kayak, paddleboards or fishing gear at home. Boat covers and tarps collect rainwater and breed mosquitoes. Kayaks stored upside down on the ground give spiders and palmetto bugs a dark, damp shelter. Fishing gear and bait freezers in the garage can draw roaches and rodents. We check all of these during the inspection. Tilting kayaks so they drain, tightening covers so they don't sag and storing gear off the ground make a real difference.

A year of pests in Dania Beach

  • Spring: ants become more active, and fire ant mounds pop up after the first rains.
  • Rainy season, roughly June through October: mosquitoes and no-see-ums peak near the mangroves and canals, and palmetto bugs come inside after storms.
  • Hurricane season: flooding, floating fire ants and displaced rats.
  • Winter: rats move into attics and garages, and ants keep trailing inside for water.

A quarterly plan lines up with those changes, and if something comes up between visits, our Bug Free Guarantee covers the extra trip.

Pests we see most in Dania Beach

  • Palmetto bugs: in older homes, crawl spaces, drains and garages, especially after rain.
  • Roof rats: along seawalls and docks, in vines, palms and fruit trees.
  • German cockroaches: in apartments, condos and rentals.
  • Mosquitoes and no-see-ums: near canals, mangroves and West Lake.
  • Ants: ghost ants indoors, fire ants in sunny yards in West Dania.
  • Spiders: on docks, boat covers and around outdoor lights.
  • Fleas and ticks: from dog walks and wildlife.

Living next to the airport and the port

Dania Beach sits right next to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and close to Port Everglades. Warehouses, rental car lots, freight businesses and hotels near the airport have the same pest pressures as any busy commercial district: dumpsters and docks that feed rats, and break rooms and kitchens that draw German cockroaches. Homes near those areas can see more rodent pressure. If you run a business there, we can set up scheduled service with exterior rodent monitoring and interior treatment of kitchens, break rooms and storage.

Antique stores and secondhand finds

Antique Row is one of the things Dania Beach is known for, and many residents love a good secondhand find. Older furniture, especially upholstered pieces, headboards and dressers with lots of joints, can carry German cockroaches or bed bugs. Before you bring a piece home, check the seams, joints, drawer corners and underside with a flashlight. Look for tiny dark spots, shed skins or live insects. If you're not sure, leave it in the garage until you can look closer, and call us if you find something.

Historic homes deserve careful treatment

Owners of Dania Beach's older homes often care a lot about original wood floors, trim, cabinets and windows. We treat with that in mind. Indoors, we use baits and targeted applications in cracks, voids and behind appliances rather than spraying finished surfaces. When we seal entry points, we use materials that suit the home and tell you what we'd recommend before doing anything that changes how a door or window looks. If a gap needs a carpenter rather than a sealant, we'll tell you that too.

Fire ants and fleas in West Dania yards

West Dania's bigger yards get plenty of sun, and that's where fire ants build mounds, often along driveways, fences, play sets and the edges of patios. Kids and dogs find them the hard way. We treat fire ant mounds and offer yard treatments for fleas and ants around the home. If your dog keeps bringing fleas inside, we'll treat the home and the shady yard spots where flea larvae develop, while you handle the dog with your vet.

Townhome rows in Dania Cove and nearby

In townhome communities like Dania Cove, the end units usually see the most outdoor pressure, while middle units get more from shared walls. Either way, ants and roaches follow plumbing and wiring between units. We treat your unit, seal what we can reach and treat the outside perimeter you control, and we'll tell you if the pattern points to a neighbor's unit or a common area.

Text us a photo

Not sure what you're looking at? Snap a photo of the bug, the droppings or the damage and text it to 833-845-9284. A good photo often tells us whether it's a palmetto bug or a German cockroach, a roof rat or a mouse, and helps us plan before we arrive.

Do you serve all of Dania Beach?
Yes. We cover all of Dania Beach, from the pier and Old Dania to Lauderdale Isles and West Dania.
My house near Antique Row is older. Why do I keep getting roaches?

Yes. We can't treat the canal, but fogging resting areas with a backpack fogger and putting larvicide on breeding spots in your yard cuts down the bites where you actually spend time.
Do you treat rats around docks and seawalls?
Yes. We inspect the roofline and the boat storage areas, trap rats that get inside, seal entry points and can place tamper-resistant bait stations along the seawall side.
