Good mosquito control in Dania Beach starts with the boat in the driveway. This is a boating town: the Dania Cut-Off Canal runs through it to the Intracoastal, marinas line the water, and plenty of homes keep a boat, a trailer or a pair of kayaks out back. Covers, hulls and trailers catch rain after every storm and turn into breeding spots. Add the mangroves around Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park (the former John U. Lloyd Beach State Park) and the low streets that take on water at the highest tides, and mosquitoes have a lot to work with. We're a family-run team, and every new customer gets a FREE inspection and $50 off the first service.

Start here: which of these sounds like your place?

You keep a boat or kayaks at home. A sagging cover can hold a few gallons for weeks. So can the cockpit of an uncovered skiff, a bilge that isn't pumped, a trailer frame and a kayak stored hull-up. On the first walk we check every one of those with you. Pull covers tight so rain runs off, pump or drain the bilge after storms, and store kayaks and paddleboards hull-down.

You're on a canal. The seawall side of the lot is usually the shadiest and wettest part of the yard, and mosquitoes rest in the plantings there. We treat the land side of the seawall and the shady side of the house, always from land. We never spray into or toward the canal or the Intracoastal.

You're near the state park or the mangroves. Mosquitoes and no-see-ums drift in from the mangrove edges, so treatment can't stop every one from arriving. What it does is clear out the resting spots in your yard where they settle, so the patio is usable. No-see-ums breed in the coastal mud, mostly off your property, so results are limited; our guarantee covers them for plan customers. A patio fan also helps, because they're weak fliers. More in no-see-ums on the lanai.

Your street floods at king tide. Low neighborhoods near the canals and the Intracoastal can see water backing up in swales and yards during the highest tides of the fall, not only after rain. Those puddles can last long enough to breed. After any flooding, walk the yard and look in low spots, tire ruts, tarps and containers, and tell us if you see larvae.

You're in an older home near downtown or Antique Row. Big trees, thick landscaping, carports and sheds full of gear give mosquitoes shade all day, and old gutters under the canopy hold water. We work the sheds, carports and tree shade, and check the gutters.

You're in a townhome or condo. We treat the shady resting spots on the patio and in the landscaping you're responsible for, as long as your community allows it.

What mosquito control in Dania Beach includes

Our mosquito service is a professional mosquito barrier spray treatment, and every product is applied according to its label.

  • Resting spots: a licensed technician treats the shade inside hedges and under leaves, under decks and stairs, behind the A/C unit, along fences and around sheds and carports with a backpack fogger. The backpack fogger is for outdoor work only. We never use it indoors.
  • Breeding spots that can't be emptied: drains, bromeliad cups and fountains without fish, where the product label allows, get larvicide. We don't treat ponds with fish.
  • Larval traps: monthly mosquito plans add larval traps in the shade. Inside is a growth regulator, like birth control for insects, which keeps the larvae from ever reaching the biting stage. Monthly plans only.
  • Before we leave: we tell you what we treated and what to drain, flip or cover.

We recommend monthly visits, especially in the rainy season from about late spring into fall, and we can adjust the schedule to your property. Planning a cookout on the canal? We also do one-time event treatments.

Mosquito Control FAQs

My boat sits in the driveway. Could it be breeding mosquitoes?
Yes. Covers, cockpits, bilges and trailers often hold rainwater. Drain them after storms, and we'll check them on every visit.
I live near the mangroves by the state park. Will treatment help?
Mosquitoes will still fly in from outside the yard, but treating the resting spots where you spend time outside makes a real difference.
Do you spray the canal behind my house?
No. We treat the land side of your property and never spray into or toward the water.
Why are there more mosquitoes a week after a king tide?
Tidal flooding leaves standing water in low yards and swales, and mosquitoes can go from egg to adult in about a week in warm weather.
When is mosquito season in Dania Beach?
Mosquitoes are around all year here, but they're worst in the rainy season, from about late spring into fall, and again after the highest fall tides. That's why we recommend monthly visits.
