Tell us what year your house was built, and we'll have a good idea which roach you're seeing. Neighborhoods like Victoria Park, Tarpon River, Lauderdale Manors and Riverland are full of homes built from the 1920s through the 1960s: wood-frame bungalows on raised foundations, early block homes with original cast-iron drains, and historic houses in Sailboat Bend and Colee Hammock with wood floors and plaster walls. Older plumbing and gaps around doors and windows give palmetto bugs easy access, and the sewer and storm systems carry them from block to block. Downtown and around Las Olas, apartment and condo buildings deal with German cockroaches instead. Roach control in Fort Lauderdale starts with a FREE inspection, and new customers get $50 off.

Raised wood-frame bungalow. The space under the floor is where many roaches live before they come inside. We treat it where the crawl space is accessible, along with the vents and the openings where plumbing runs up into the house, and point out vent screens that are torn or missing.

Early block home. Floor drains and old cleanouts are the usual way in, especially after heavy rain. We treat those drains and cleanouts and apply a perimeter treatment around the foundation. If roaches keep appearing at one drain, see roaches coming up the drain.

Historic home in Sailboat Bend or Colee Hammock. Original wood floors, built-in cabinets and old plaster with fine cracks. We use crack-and-crevice placements and keep products off original finishes, and we check under old porches, where palmetto bugs shelter.

Canal home. Seawall landscaping, palms and boat storage give roaches cover right next to the house, and garages packed with marine gear make good hiding places. We treat the garage, storage areas and the shaded ground and mulch along the seawall where they shelter, and suggest storage changes, like lidded plastic bins instead of cardboard, that take away hiding spots. More in pests in canal homes.

Downtown or Las Olas apartment. Here it's usually German cockroaches moving between units through shared walls, with extra pressure from the restaurants nearby. We use gel bait and crack-and-crevice treatment where they hide. We treat the plumbing gaps under sinks and behind toilets where these roaches hide, and we come back about two weeks later to check. Usually one follow-up does it; a bad infestation sometimes needs more treatments. Follow-up visits are booked before we leave.

Garage apartment, guest cottage or short-term rental. Include it in the plan, or roaches shuttle back and forth between buildings. Rental owners can read cockroaches in Airbnb rentals.

Rain, drains and the palmetto bug

After a heavy storm, the storm drains and sewers fill and push palmetto bugs up and out. That's when they turn up in bathrooms, garages and on porches. Between visits, keep drain stoppers in at night, run water in guest-bath drains once a week so the traps stay full, and swap white porch bulbs for yellow ones, which draw fewer insects to the door.

What roach control in Fort Lauderdale looks like

We inspect from the crawl space or garage to the kitchen, identify the roach and show you where it's coming in. Palmetto bugs are handled with exterior and entry-point treatment and kept in check by quarterly service. German roaches get bait, growth regulator and scheduled follow-ups.

Roach Control FAQs

Can you treat under my raised bungalow?
Yes, where the crawl space is accessible. That's often where roaches live before coming inside.
Why do I see roaches on my porch at night near the canal?
Palmetto bugs live in seawall landscaping, palms and drains and are drawn to porch lights. A perimeter treatment and yellow bulbs both help.
Do restaurants nearby cause roach problems in my building?
They can add pressure, especially downtown. Regular treatment of your unit, plus the building's common areas if management agrees, keeps numbers down.
Do you treat garages full of boat gear?
Yes. We treat the garage and suggest storage changes, like sealed bins, that remove hiding spots.
How much does roach control cost?
Roaches are covered by our general pest plan: $125 per quarter, about $42 a month. New customers get $50 off the first service plus a FREE inspection, with no code and no expiration.
